A Day for Infection Preventionists is aimed at supporting Kentucky infection prevention professionals in their daily work to reduce health care associated infections and provide quality patient care. This one-day conference builds on foundational skills provided in previous educational offerings and explores topics with emerging importance and “weirdness.” The target audience includes infection preventionists, chief nursing officers, risk managers, quality improvement leaders, and patient safety personnel in the hospital, community, and long-term care.

Continuing Education
The Kentucky Hospital Research and Education Foundation is an approved Kentucky Board of Nursing continuing education provider. This offering number 5-0023-12-25-010 is approved for 7.2 contact hours. Participants must attend the entire session, complete the post-session evaluation, and provide nursing license number in order to receive contact hours and be awarded a certificate. No partial credit will be given. The Kentucky Board of Nursing approval does not constitute endorsement of program content.

This single-day conference qualifies for 5 Infection Prevention Units (IPUs) that can be applied toward your CIC or LTC-CIP recertification. The domains covered include: 1) Identification of Infectious Disease Processes, 2) Preventing/Controlling the Transmission of Infectious Agents, 3) Management and Communication, 4) Environment of Care, 5) Surveillance and Epidemiologic Investigation, and 6) Education and Research.
