Ostomy Management Course and Certification Scholarship Application

The Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) Quality Team is offering scholarships for 15 candidates to enroll in the prestigious Ostomy Management Specialist (OMS®) course and certification.

This opportunity aims to enhance your expertise and benefit both your hospital and community. The comprehensive course covers standards of care, evidence-based practices, the role of the ostomy care team, wound and ostomy assessments, and multidisciplinary approaches to effective ostomy management. What Is It?
Back because you loved it the first time around! The Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) is thrilled to announce an exclusive opportunity for 15 candidates to participate in the KHA-sponsored Ostomy Management Course!  Approved by the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO®), this comprehensive program culminates in a national certification exam.  Successful candidates will earn the prestigious and nationally recognized Ostomy Management Specialist (OMS®) certification credential.

This scholarship covers the full cost of the course and exam fees, valued at approximately $2,600 per applicant.  The program consists of a four-day, in-person class at KHA Headquarters in Louisville,  followed by a proctored certification exam on the fifth day.

When Is It?
The classes will be held from Monday, April 28, 2025, until Thursday, May 1, 2025. Participants will enjoy catered lunches and snacks each day.

The proctored exam will take place on the morning of Friday, May 2, 2025, with coffee, beverages, and light snacks offered.

Who Can Apply?
Candidates must meet the following criteria to apply for the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO®) Ostomy Management Course and certification exam scholarship:

  • Only candidates who are employed by a KHA member hospital may be considered for this scholarship. (Contracted staff will not be eligible.)
  • Current License: RN, LPN/LVN, NP, PA, PT, PTA, OT, OTA, MD, DO, DPM
  • Active involvement in the consultation and/or care of ostomy patients 1 year full-time in the past 5 years as a RN, LPN/LVN, NP, PA, PT, PTA, OT, OTA, MD, DO, DPM
