Skin and Wound Management (WCC®) Course Scholarship Application

The Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) Quality Team is offering scholarships for 15 candidates from member hospitals to join the Spring 2025 Skin and Wound Management (WCC®) course and certification. This initiative honors the dedication of member hospitals to improving healthcare quality and patient safety in Kentucky.

The course covers standards of care, evidence-based practices, multidisciplinary wound care, accurate wound assessment, pressure ulcer stages, contributing factors, and prevention strategies.

  • The application deadline is Friday, March 14, 2025.

What Is It?
The Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) Quality Team is thrilled to announce an exclusive opportunity for 15 candidates to participate in a KHA-sponsored Skin and Wound Management Course. Approved by the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO®), this comprehensive program culminates in a certification exam. Successful candidates will earn the prestigious nationally recognized Wound Care Certified (WCC®) credential.

This scholarship covers the full cost of the course and exam fees, valued at approximately $2,600.00 per applicant. The program consists of a four-day, in-person class at KHA Headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky followed by a proctored certification exam on the fifth day.

When Is It?
The classes will be held from Monday, April 21, 2025, until Thursday, April 24, 2025. Participants will enjoy catered lunches and snacks each day. The proctored exam will take place on the morning of Friday, April 25, 2025, with coffee, beverages, and light snacks offered.


Who Can Apply?
Candidates must meet the following criteria to apply for the scholarship for the Skin and Wound Management Course and the Wound Care Certified (WCC®) certification exam:

  • Only candidates who are employed by a KHA member hospital may be considered for this scholarship. (Contracted staff will not be eligible.)
  • Candidates must hold an active, unrestricted license and meet experience requirements: RN, LPN/LVN, NP, PA, PTA, OT, OTA, MD, DO, DPM, AP
  • Completed 2 years full-time or 4 years part-time experience in an approved profession with ongoing, active involvement in the care of wound care patients or in management, education, or research directly related to wound care.
